Fourteen pastors and four wonderful volunteers gathered at Green Valley Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, March 14 for the annual Equipping Committee Luncheon. Committee Chair DeLois Basnett set the tone with a warm welcome and a statement of the purpose of our gathering. Pastors were invited to tell about an older adult who had influenced their faith journey or taught them an important life lesson. Following the sharing, Rev. Adrian Doll offered the blessing. We enjoyed a gourmet lunch prepared by Lyla Dusing and DeLois Basnett. Lyla’s creative, healthy and delicious lunch was satisfying in every way. What a treat!

The program was focused on ways we can minister to the older adults in our congregations, and the presenter was Linda Rauenbuehler, Director of Senior Adult Ministries at Green Valley PC and member of the POAMN (Presbyterian Older Adult Ministry Network) Executive Committee. Linda shared some very practical and useful information on ways to organize and establish a ministry specifically for older adults. Following the presentation we had the opportunity to share updates and announcements as well as joys and concerns.

Many thanks to the Equipping Committee and especially DeLois for her organization, decorations and gracious hosting. Also thanks to Lyla for the planning and preparation of the meal, to Linda for her very timely and helpful presentation, and to the pastor and staff of GVPC. We look forward to the Equipping Committee’s Luncheon for the northern pastors. Coming soon!
