Not by Accident, the Pastors Lunch

On Saturday, May 20, 2017, the Presbytery’s Equipping Committee hosted the Annual Pastors Luncheon for Northern Nevada at Spanish Springs Presbyterian Church. It was a joy to have fourteen pastors, church leaders and members of the Equipping Committee gather around lovely tables to enjoy a wonderful lunch catered by the Olive Garden, as well as a time of fellowship, discussion and sharing.

[columns][three_fourths]Attendees introduced themselves and also shared where they were born. Ron Scoville describe the role of the Equipping Committee and offered its on-going support. The Rev. Jim Young gave the opening prayer and blessing over the food. After lunch the Rev. Pat Mecham led the group in a time of singing and praise. Presbytery Pastor Hilda Pecoraro then facilitated a discussion on the challenges facing the church in the coming years and how we can effectively share the love of Jesus in our communities. Pastors and leaders gave brief updates on news from their ministries and personal lives. Ray Bledsoe wrapped up the luncheon and sent the group out with a blessing titled,”Halverson’s Benediction.”

It was a very enjoyable time for all who were able to attend. Special thanks to the Rev. Pat Mecham and Spanish Springs PC for allowing the use of the Church. Thanks to members of the Equipping Committee: RE Elaine Noble (hostess), RE Ray Bledsoe, RE Ron Scoville and RE Ann Sigurdson for hosting the luncheon and to Chair of Equipping RE DeLois Basnett, who graciously underwrote the cost of the luncheon, prepared the programs, as well as coordinating the details long-distance! Thanks to volunteers Denis Pecoraro and Denice Smith for their assistance![/three_fourths]

You go nowhere
by accident.
Wherever you go,
God is sending you.
Wherever you are,
God has put you there.
God has a purpose
in your being there.
Christ lives in you
and has something
he wants to do
through you
where you are.
Believe this
and go in the grace
and love and power
of Jesus Christ.
