Prayer Services for Las Vegas Shooting

Beloved Presbytery of Nevada Family,

We are all shocked and stunned by the news of the horrific shooting at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas that has taken so many lives and injured hundreds of others – both physically and emotionally.  We are shaken and overwhelmed by the reality that this has happened in our community.

I want to “piggy-back” on Joan’s email by sending out the list of Prayer Services we are aware of at this time, so that you can get the word out to your members, co-workers, neighbors and friends as soon as possible.  There will be many who need a place to gather with others to share their grief, to hear words of comfort and hope and to lift up prayers for all who have been affected by this tragedy.  We need to proclaim God’s mercy, grace and comfort to a hurting community.  Now more than ever, people need the love of God and and God’s people.

Please know that our community is being lifted up in prayer by millions of people all over the world.  I hope that we all feel the comfort and strength of that love and support coming our way through these difficult days ahead.

I bring you the prayers and thoughts from the Presbyterian Mission Agency, communicated to Joan and me by Renee Myers, PMA staff.  She asked me to let you all know that their deep prayers and sympathy are with us and with our community.

Let us be ready to provide support – emotionally, physically and spiritually – to the hurting and grieving.  God bless each of you as you lead and support your congregations and communities.

In Christ’s love, Hilda
