Korean Presbyterian of Reno Brightens Up

A Season of Renewal and Outreach at KPCR

Beloved community,

The Korean Presbyterian Church of Reno (KPCR) continues to be blessed by the grace of God and the faithful support of our broader church family. Among our adult congregation, nearly 40% are elders aged 70 and above—faithful saints who have long nurtured the spirit of worship in our church. Many had voiced concerns about the previous projector screen being blurry and difficult to see.

Thanks to generous financial support of a $10,000 grant from the Synod of the Pacific, we were recently able to install a new, state-of-the-art LED screen. This upgrade offers greatly enhanced clarity, creating a more accessible and strain-free worship experience for all.

Truly, this gift has been a blessing—not just to our elderly members, but to the entire congregation. One member lovingly described it as “putting on the right pair of glasses again—with lots of gizmos.” We give thanks to God for this thoughtful and timely support.

Looking ahead, KPCR’s central goal for 2025 is to deepen our outreach to the local community. Since January, we’ve partnered with the Food Bank, where each month 15 to 22 volunteers from our congregation have joyfully offered their hands and hearts in service. This is just the beginning.

In the coming months, we are prayerfully preparing for a new mission: a collaborative “Plaza of Sharing” festival this fall. In partnership with the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC), UNR’s Student Outreach Clinic, and Walmart Pharmacy, we will gather to offer healthcare services, vaccine access, Medicare Part D enrollment assistance, and joyful fellowship to our neighbors.

We have also begun reaching out to non-Korean-speaking young adults in the Reno/Sparks area, offering weekly Bible study sessions for young people from underrepresented or diverse backgrounds. It has been a gift to welcome 4 to 7 individuals each week, as we explore Scripture and grow together in faith.

With hearts full of gratitude and eyes fixed on Christ, KPCR remains committed to walking in the way of Jesus—spreading the Gospel and embodying God’s love in word and deed.

Grace and peace to each of you,

The Korean Presbyterian Church of Reno
