Clerk Elected At Presbytery

At its presbytery meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Henderson, Nevada, the Presbytery of Nevada elected the Reverend Mr. J. Christy Ramsey as its new Stated Clerk/General Presbyter, for a three-year, renewable term.

The Presbytery of Nevada is comprised of 27 congregations and additional new worshipping fellowships throughout the state of Nevada and the eastern side of the Sierras in California. The role of the Stated Clerk/General Presbyter is to serve as the administrative leader of the presbytery. Christy is a graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and has been a member of the Nevada Presbytery since 2013.

Christy has been a parish pastor in both long-term, installed positions and as an intentional interim pastor. He has served as Recording Clerk in the Wabash Valley Presbytery, working closely with two different Stated Clerks and serving as Clerk Pro Temp during his tenure. He has experience serving on Investigative Committees and Administrative Commissions and in different aspects of church disciplinary processes. He has attended multiple meetings of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, its highest governing body, as an observer, commissioner, and skilled communications volunteer.

Christy is a trained computer tech advisor and has applied these skills for the sake of effective church communications as well as in computer retail and service in both business and nonprofit settings. He is motivated by a desire to serve the church and a strong sense of fairness and justice.
