Southern Nevada Presbyterian Clergy Quarterly Luncheon

Twenty-one pastors, spouses and church leaders gathered on Thursday, July 6 in the Fireside Room at Henderson Presbyterian Church to enjoy a patriotic-themed luncheon. With record high temperatures outside, the group enjoyed warm fellowship around the tables inside with an indoor summer picnic of chicken, corn on the cob, watermelon, salads and pie.
Host pastor Lee Styer gave a  beautiful opening prayer.  Following lunch, Presbytery Pastor Hilda Pecoraro invited those gathered to reflect on their favorite “miracle” story in the Bible and what it revealed to them about God’s nature.  After a time of sharing around the tables, Hilda presented some statistics on the PC(USA) from Presbyterian Outlook (July 10, 2017 issue, pg. 6).  It was noted in the article that the Presbytery of Nevada is one of three presbyteries in the General Assembly that showed a net growth in membership for 2016!  Yay team!  Hilda also gave some stats for the Presbytery of Nevada then talked about the 1001 New Worshipping Communities movement and invited those present to discuss where we might envision New Worshipping Communities in our area.  Some questions to think abaout, “Where is there no Presbyterian presence?”  “What groups of people are not being served by our churches?”  “Who will take the lead in reaching out?”  The Luncheon ended with a time of sharing personal and congregational updates and offering thanks to God – and to fellow presbytery members – for answered prayers, restored health and support.  It was a great time of fellowship, food and conversation.  A special thanks to Denis Pecoraro for his assistance and the photos along with Rev. Lee and Linda Styer and Zep Sylvis.  I look forward to our next gathering in October!
