The Equipping Committee hosted a Clergy Lunch for the pastors in Southern Nevada on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. It was wonderful to have 11 pastors come together to enjoy a time of fellowship around festive, Valentine-themed tables.
Pastors had the opportunity to give updates on what is going on in their churches and to share any news in their personal lives. Presbytery Pastor Hilda Pecoraro led the group in a time of reflecting on their years of ministry and sharing around the tables both what has been most rewarding and satisfying in ministry, and what has caused the greatest stress. Chair of the Equipping Committee, DeLois Basnett encouraged pastors to brainstorm ways that our congregations can work together in the future.
A special thanks to former Equipping Committee Chair Lyla Dusing for being the “head chef” and, along with volunteers John and Sherry from MVPC, preparing a delicious meal. Thanks to DeLois, to our host pastor David Dendy, and to all who attended the gathering. (Special kudos to Adolph Kunen who drove the 90 miles from Mesquite!) We look forward to continuing to strengthen the bonds of fellowship and building community among our pastors – both in the south and the north.
