Each year, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Synod Central Office staff staff step out into the local community to give a day of service.

Projects have included boxing food for those in need at Petaluma Christmas Cheer, landscaping at the Boys & Girls Club, painting temporary housing at Petaluma People Services Center and for the past two years we have made Valentines for senior shut-ins receiving Meals on Wheels.

This year we returned to Mentor-Me, Petaluma to organize and decorate the new kids’ center. Then made our way to the Petaluma People Service Center to help pack away the remnants of their recent 1,000 Bowls fundraiser.

Not only is the volunteer work helpful to others, it gives us a chance to learn about the variety of important work being done in the area. As a staff, it feels great to make a difference in our community.
