Celebrating a Decade of Welcome

IMAG0990It was standing room only in the beautiful Grace Presbyterian Church Chapel last Sunday afternoon as many gathered for the Tenth Anniversary Worship Service of our newest NCD, the Taiwanese American Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas (TAPCLV).  The Taiwanese congregation initially worshiped at Westminster Presbyterian Church until 2012, when the decision was made to move to Grace Presbyterian Church – Charleston Campus.  The congregation was officially received as a New Church Development of Nevada Presbytery at the Spring Presbytery meeting in 2015.

The  anniversary service was filled with music and celebration.  A thoughtful and motivating sermon was given by the Moderator of Nevada Presbytery the Rev. Dana Pope.  There were several beautiful anthems, as both the TAPCLV Choir and a visiting choir from sister church, the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church of South Bay, participated.  Greetings were brought by the Rev. Jim Houston-Hencken on behalf of host church, Grace Presbyterian, as well as greetings from other pastors in the TPC – Taiwanese Presbyterian Church – an organization of Taiwanese churches within the PC(USA).  Presbytery Pastor Hilda Pecoraro also congratulated the congregation on behalf of the Presbytery of Nevada.  The presider of the service, Mr. Joseph Tsai, extended thanks to Westminster Presbyterian Church and its former pastor the Rev. Carol Wood, to the Rev. Prachuab Dechawan for his support, to the Rev. Jim Houston-Hencken and Grace PC for their hospitality and encouragement, and to the Presbytery of Nevada for its support.
